Jaime Zacarias aka GERMS is an LA based artist whose surrealist paintings draw deeply from the Chicano culture and its religious iconography.

Purgatory Mary is GERMS in a nutshell. It’s a mixed media museum quality archival giclee print with four silkscreen colors laid over the top including a high gloss coating and three hand painted separations.

His trademark tentacles spell out the artist’s name GERMS across the middle while an iPhone sneakily displays the logo of the LA Dodgers (he’s a huge fan).

About The Artist

Jaime Zacarias was born and raised in South Central LA amid a rampant gang culture that impacted his desire to create and do something positive. The nickname GERMS was given to him as a skateboarder in his teens and has stuck ever since.

Talking about his work on his website he says: “I find myself mesmerized by the seemingly infinite details and borderline infectious behaviors of each character I create, while striving to transform and challenge the traditional interpretations of the icons we all know so well.”
