One of Britain’s finest Pop Artists, now into his ninth decade, is as prolific and playful as ever.

Blake’s recent (2014) USA Series of five signed silkscreen prints feature collaged elements, diamond dust glitter and various glazes.

From vintage Hollywood stills to a Warhol-esque James Dean photograph. A United Airlines luggage tag to a Felix the Cat cigarette card.

Blake cuts out slices of familiar (and not so familiar) Americana to create arrangements that both intrigue and amuse in the signature Peter Blake style.

Since designing the cover art for The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band Blake has been the master of pop culture appropriation.

Product placement, removed from the marketer’s consumer agenda, has room for poetry and playfulness.

These Peter Blake prints are a celebration of popular culture and its famed icons – there’s little room for cynicism and irony within Blake’s collaged corners.

About The Artist

Peter Blake was born in Dartford on the 25th of June 1932.

He studied graphic design at Gravesend Technical College before going on to shine at London’s Royal College of Art alongside soon to be Pop luminaries Hockney and Kitaj.
