Stanley Donwood Prints

Created between 2010 and 2013 and released in November 2013 these beautifully menacing Stanley Donwood prints were first shown at The Outsiders gallery in London.

‘Far Away is Close at Hand in Images of Elsewhere’ was the title of Donwood’s sell out show.

A departure from previous Stanley Donwood prints such as If You Lived Here You’d Be Home By Now which used a century-old engraving technique known as photogravure.

These limited editions of 100 have been produced using super-high resolution photos of four of the canvases from the exhibition.

They’re archival quality prints of paintings on canvas rather than etchings or screenprints.

These Stanley Donwood prints also feature in the artwork for Radiohead’s The King of Limbs LP.

I own a couple of Stanley Donwood prints myself. I was with a group of friends on holiday in Amsterdam and we came across a Stanley Donwood exhibition featuring the series of ten prints ‘If You Lived Here You’d Be Home By Now.’

We decided to pool our savings and buy all ten prints and we now own a couple each and they’ve been great prints to live with.

So if you don’t normally buy art and are unsure about spending so much money on something that isn’t necessarily ‘practical’ then I’d encourage you to go for it if you think you can afford it.

You’ll be paid back years from now when new visitors see the work for the first time or you catch yourself seeing it anew.
